Just under twelve hours to go until the Bristol BioBlitz 2011 at the Tyntesfield estate in Wraxall. The organisers are putting the final touches to the marathon 30-hour programme, our naturalists are brushing up on their species identification, the guides are planning their routes and the media team are booting up their laptops.

It all starts at 9am tomorrow morning and keeps going non-stop until 3pm on Saturday. We’re racing against the clock to identify as many species of animals, birds, insects, trees, plants and fungi as we possibly can. And we need your help. With our experienced naturalists on hand to guide you, learn more about the wildlife in your local area and take part in a real scientific biodiversity survey.

Find out more about the event or get directions to Tyntesfield. It’s all completely free and we’d love to see you there.

If you can’t make it to the BioBlitz but would like to stay involved, then you can follow our progress here on our blog. We’ll be posting new discoveries, photos, interviews and short films throughout the event. And we’ll be keeping you up to date with the all-important species count as results come in.

Whether you’re coming to Tyntesfield or following the event online, we hope you enjoy it as much as we know we will. And do share your ideas, thoughts, stories and photos. You’ll find the media team at the Sawmill throughout the event or you can contact us via this blog. We look forward to hearing from you. Happy counting!
